WIDE
Wide loads of laundry. Piles and piles and piles that just never seem to end! I sort them and get increasingly frustrated at how easily people, short and tall alike in this family, can discard their clothes; some of which have only been worn for a few hours and aren’t even dirty! And then I remember that they have learned their laundry creating habits from me. Sweet Moses! Is this how I treat my clothes? Is this how careless I am with the threads that clothe me? I’m no longer thinking about laundry.
No.
I’m thinking, now, of how easily I throw off the feeling that I’ve done wrong and need to seek forgiveness; how easily I cast off the royalty bestowed upon me as a daughter of The King; and how very easily sin can encumber me. I want my repentance to be immediate, my identity as a co-heir with Christ to be inherent, and I want my mercy streak to be a mile wide!
And with that admission and revelation, I’m ready to tackle those wide loads. Bring on the laundry – and I say, the dirtier, to better! (Well, not really, about that last part.)
“I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and covered me with the robe of righteousness…”
Isaiah 61:10
Beautiful post…I love that you take something so mundane and draw out the deeper meaning. Our dirty rags for his robes of righteousness!
And I have written posts and posts about my laundry problem. And it is a problem, believe me! 😉
You and me both Christina!! I’m so glad you enjoyed this little thought process. Ha! 🙂
Everyday I struggle with this same thing. I guess it is nice to know I am not alone. 😉
Sooo not alone!
Thanks, for making me chuckle, and think deeply at the same time about what a gift it is to be clothed in His robes of righteousness…Thank you 🙂
Aw-thank you Dolly! Glad to give out chuckles anytime.
Missy, I love this! We were on the same train of thought this morning, but oh, how poetic and beautifully you wrote about it! I love, love this!
Thanks so much Jacqui! Great minds think alike. So greatful for the encouragement!
