It’s Five Minute Friday time over at Lisa Jo Baker’s. What can you write in 5 minutes with no thought to editing?
VOICE
Go…
The first time I heard your voice, I knew. I knew I’d need to hear it again. I also knew I had to figure out a way to get over there and see the face that matched that voice. And I’m so very glad I did! Oh, yes indeedy. That human voice is the one that tells me my lapses in judgement aren’t forever. It reminds me that I’m loved when the world is trying to tell me I’m not. Your voice soothes my savage moments and provides clarity when I can’t see the forest through the trees. Thank you.
I’ll forever be grateful that I was able to hear The Voice tell me so clearly that it was you. You, whose voice gives me strength and courage and love, that I get to spend my time, this side of heaven, with. You, who are always encouraging me to use my voice, allowing my voice to supersede yours more often than a partner should, forgiving me for rushing to make mine heard first. Thank you.
And it’s your voice, together with mine, that makes me feel as though we can take on the world. And when we, together, listen to The Voice? Our faith is strengthened immeasurably. And I feel deep in my soul that it is true:
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20
“Your voice soothes my savage moments…” I loved this line in particular; there is so much depth to it, bringing up so many memories for me — and I’m sure it stands for many of yours as well. Beautiful! Thanks for stopping by to read mine as well. 🙂
Ah, memories. Yes yes. Thanks for visiting Amy!
This here, yes: “You, who are always encouraging me to use my voice, allowing my voice to supersede yours more often than a partner should, forgiving me for rushing to make mine heard first.” I feel the same way about mine. God is so good.
He really is. Thank you, friend!
Wonderful post.
Thanks!
Lovely, Missindeedy! Sounds like a harmony to me. 🙂
I love the idea of harmony. That did not occur to me. Thanks Christina! 🙂
What a beautiful post. I am also thankful for the voice God put in my life, that helps me to hear His voice!
Thanks so much Barbie. Thankfulness helps me feels less agitated when our voices aren’t in sync – that’s for sure!
